X Zine
Created to coincide with the Met premiere of Anthony Davis’s X: The Life and Times of Malcolm X, the zine was designed to appeal to new audiences by pairing bold typeset phrases from the libretto with photographs of Black life in Harlem by Jamel Shabazz. The zine was available at bookstores, bars, and community spaces around the city. In addition, the graphic style was applied to advertising. Created in collaboration with Victor Jeffreys II and photographers Jamel Shabazz and Zenith Richards. Typeface by Vocal Type Co.
